Well worth the read
Amazon Review
The answer to what makes a good biography is frustratingly nebulous but to me, for a biography to be worthy of my time, it should touch its readers thoughts on a profound level and that is what Mexican Sunset does.
The writer must address the issue of how to make their story accessible to readers without reducing their work to a simple narration. Deeply contemplative and beautifully written Mexico Sunset strikes this balance perfectly to avoid a trap many biographical authors fall in to.
Seamlessly integrating cultural realities with the path of discovery he is on Rick Jebb has clearly given a lot of thought to how he’s framed his biography with plenty of sociohistorical touchstones and it’s this approach outside of his narration that imbues it with authenticity and brings it to life.
Candid and cuttingly observant Rick Jebb’s biography follows his life from young teen to manhood as he negotiates loss and love whilst reflecting on those inherent characteristics of man that have informed our choices and actions stretching far back into the annals of history.
It’s by no means a saccharin account of his travels and refreshingly so with his thoughts often running as deep as the terrain he transverses. This is what I want from a biography and for me it’s this more than any other aspect of Mexican Sunset that I found so thoroughly engaging.

A journey to the inner self
Amazon Review
“Mexican Sunset tells the story of an adolescent who, after the sudden death of his stepfather, decides to embark on different journeys to find his true self. As he goes through this adventure, he meets a girl who invites him to stop and visualize the path he has already covered and to reflect on the true meaning of life. In several opportunities I felt I could recognize myself in this protagonist. It is very well created and his story is perfectly described. I enjoyed reading this story a lot and I felt really satisfied when I reached the end of the book and thought that as the famous saying goes “sometimes we have to get lost in order to find ourselves.”

A great old fashion story
Amazon Review
“What an exciting life some people live! Mexican Sunset is one of those stories, a recapitulation of a life filled with adventure, an author who shares his travels, his experiences living in different places and countries, and the process he went through to become the adult he is now.
I like reading this kind of book, it opens a world of opportunities, so many things I haven’t taken into consideration as possible. Rick Jebb’s book is a coming-of-age story that, in a way, gave me the courage to stop procrastinating and start moving forward into the life I want for myself: The life of a traveler!
Definitely recommended for adventurous people.”

Travel to independence
Amazon Review
“Mexican Sunset: The Vision Quest of a Modern Day Explorer by Rick Jebb is classified as a type of biography / memoir. In this book, the author recounts his life journey in finding his inner self, learning lessons of life and gaining new values, and how he grew in his own self-confidence and independence. It really focuses on the part of his life traveling, which I particularly found interesting and engaging as I am a frequent traveler myself. The author uses great vocabulary and imagery throughout his retelling of his travels which really allowed me to fully envision things for myself and get a better perspective of what things were like. Additionally, I really found this book encouraging, and it helps readers think about going after what you want.”

Blend of memoir and travel
Amazon Review
“Mexican Sunset: The vision Quest of modern day explorer by Rick Jebb is a very well written look at the events which led Rick to be the person that he is. The story begins with Rick struggling to deal with the unexpected loss of his step-father. This pushes Rick to grow up faster than expected and to go places he never thought he would end up in his life. While we get to explore Rick as the reader of the story, we also get to explore the world with him as he sets out to find out who he was meant to be. An easy read, this memoir is just as much about the person as it is about the places he has gone. Fans of memoirs and of travel will love everything that this book has to offer.”

Gripping story!
Amazon Review
“I was quickly pulled into this story about the author’s life and despite the fact I never get much time to read, I felt intrigued and addicted since I saw the title. When Rick lost his stepfather in an unexpected situation he embarked on a long journey. The author did such an amazing and detailed job by telling the reader as much as he can about the setting and places that the main protagonist visited, that I could feel myself next him all the time. It’s easy to put oneself on his shoes and feel empathy for a teenager who discovers the world alone and face diverse and difficult issues. It’s a great read that I highly enjoyed.”
